UAE e-invoicing deadlines 2026–2027: who must act, and by when

Based on the UAE Ministry of Finance e-invoicing programme · retrieved 28 August 2026 · verify current dates at mof.gov.ae

The UAE is rolling out mandatory e-invoicing on the Peppol "5-corner" model. Invoices will no longer travel directly from supplier to customer — they pass through Accredited Service Providers (ASPs) on both sides, with tax-authority reporting built in. Appointing an accredited ASP is therefore a compliance obligation with fixed deadlines, not an optional upgrade.

The four dates

30 Oct 2026
Appoint your ASP
Businesses with annual revenue ≥ AED 50 million
1 Jan 2027
Phase 1 go-live
E-invoicing live for businesses ≥ AED 50 million
31 Mar 2027
Appoint your ASP
All other businesses
1 Jul 2027
Phase 2 go-live
E-invoicing live for remaining businesses
Timeline update: the Phase 1 appointment deadline was extended from 31 July 2026 to 30 October 2026 following market-readiness feedback — but the Phase 1 go-live of 1 January 2027 did not move. For large businesses, the gap between "appointed" and "live" is now barely two months.

What "appoint" actually involves

Appointing an ASP is more than signing a form. In practice a business needs to:

  1. Shortlist providers from the official accredited register (48 accredited providers as of 1 September 2026) — only accredited providers count.
  2. Compare on facts, not marketing — pricing, integration with your accounting system, onboarding time, multi-TRN support, contract exit terms. Almost no provider publishes these; you have to ask. Our 12-question checklist covers what to settle in writing.
  3. Sign and integrate — connect the ASP to your ERP or invoicing process, test, train the finance team.
  4. Go live before your deadline — allowing for the provider's real onboarding time, which ranges from days to months depending on your systems.
The hidden deadline is earlier than the official one. If a provider needs 6–8 weeks to onboard a multi-entity business, a 30 October 2026 deadline means contracts signed by early September 2026. Waiting for the deadline itself is how businesses end up choosing whoever can take them, rather than who fits.
